At the end of April, the TGO (Trace Gas Orbiter) completed the transition to a low orbit around Mars and began to carry out its rich scientific program. The main goal of his mission is to search for sources of origin in the Martian atmosphere of methane, water vapor and other substances that are potential indicators of life.

But TGO has other tasks. Among them - shooting the surface. For this, the CaSSIS camera (Color and Stereo Surface Imaging System) is installed on board the device. It is capable of receiving color images and stereo images with a resolution of up to 4.5 m per pixel. CaSSIS will be used to search for traces of dynamic processes on the surface of the red planet (for example, volcanism, erosion, sublimation) and to study the locations of rare gases identified during the mission.
To date, TGO has already transmitted to Earth a series of images of the red planet, made with the help of CaSSIS. Recently, the ESA published on its website some of these images.
Uzboy Valley (Uzboi Vallis). This is a long channel in the southern hemisphere of Mars. Its length is 366 km.The picture was taken on May 31, 2018 and covers a 22.7 by 6.6 km surface area.

Canyon Ius (Ius Chasma). This is part of the Mariner Valley - the largest system of canyons in the solar system. Its length exceeds 900 km. The picture was taken on May 27, 2018 and covers a 40ю8-by-9 km surface area.

Moor Valley (Mawrth Vallis). On the image you can see the part of the surface between the valley of the Moor and the crater of Ouyama. Moor Valley - an ancient outflow channel in the northern hemisphere of Mars, covered with large amounts of sediment.
